Surgery Center Partnership Expands Regent’s Growing Footprint in the North East
Regent Surgical Health, an industry-leading surgery center management and development company specializing in hospital and physician ambulatory surgery center (ASC) joint ventures, has partnered with Christiana Care Health System and multi-specialty physicians in the Glasgow Medical Center LLC, Newark, Del. The Glasgow Medical Center and its physician partners have been affiliated with Christiana Care for a number of years. Center leadership recognized an opportunity to expand services and looked for a surgery center management and development company with experience working with the nation’s largest health systems to deploy outpatient strategies.
“Regent Surgical Health demonstrated a stellar track record for delivering value to some of the nation’s leading systems,” said Patrick Grusenmeyer, Sc.D., FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Christiana Care Health Initiatives, Inc., the health system’s home for entrepreneurial activities and joint ventures. “They bring clinical and business expertise in operating centers, and have a proven history of building strong relationships with surgeons.” Ranked the 21st leading hospital in the nation and 10th on the east coast in terms of admissions, Christiana Care joins a growing family of Regent health system partners in the Northeastern United States including Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (New Brunswick, N.J.) and Catholic health Services (Long Island, N.Y., ASC in development). Additional eastern United States partners include: OhioHealth, Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Marietta Memorial Hospital, and Kettering Health Network.
“Regent Surgical Health has been the conduit for bringing together the hospital and physicians. We’re all working together in a unified way and I believe our patients will be the beneficiaries of this partnership,” said Dr. Paul Imber, ENT, chair of the board of Glasgow Medical Center, LLC. “Our patients will continue to receive the high level of customer service they’ve grown accustomed to at Glasgow and now we are well positioned to deliver a higher level of care at a lower cost. This is a big win for our community.”
The Glasgow Medical Center, located at 2600 Glasgow Ave. in Newark, Del., is a 15,000-square-foot multi-specialty ASC with four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Current specialties include orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, urology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, colon/rectal surgery, GI, and pain management. “Leading systems like Christiana Care are utilizing outpatient strategies to improve both the patient and the physician experience,” said Regent Chief Development Officer Jeffrey Simmons. “We are pleased to partner with Christiana Care and physician partners of this ASC to enhance quality of care, increase convenience, and lower the cost of care for their patients.” Regent is currently partnering in more than 20 surgery centers in the United States and two in Europe.
